In this enlightened age, it seems incredible to imagine that racism is still one of America’s most polarizing issues – but it is true, and the Church has tragically failed to take its rightful leadership role in eradicating this deplorable condition.
In “Silent No More,” Rod Parsley writes, “There is an unfulfilled mandate in this area of race. We have not arisen to our destiny as a nation, and we never will as God has defined our purpose, until we see the forces of animosity and hatred and the walls of division destroyed by the crush of righteousness and love. This is not just a vision for the churches, although the churches will have to lead the way; it is a vision for the nation as a whole.”
Scripture clearly teaches that racism angers God. CMC believes that while legislation mandating the same opportunity for all races may be in place, that attitudinal change is still required in the hearts of men and women to see a truly color-blind society. The Church has the primary responsibility to lead the way in changing hearts and minds on the issue of race, because biblical Christianity teaches the equality of all men and women in the sight of our Creator.
